How it works

  1. Submit the commission inquiry form and I will personally review your request within approximately 2–3 business days (excluding weekends and US holidays).
  2. Once your commission is approved, you will receive a secure invoice through Shopify along with a commission agreement. A 50% non-refundable retainer is required to reserve your painting.
  3. After the retainer has been received, I will begin developing an initial sketch for your review and approval.
  4. Once approved, your portrait will be carefully painted by hand in oil on gallery-wrapped canvas using professional archival materials.
  5. Upon completion, you will receive final photographs and a short video preview of the finished artwork. Up to two minor refinements are included.
  6. Once the remaining balance has been received and the painting has fully cured, your portrait will be carefully packaged and shipped to you.

Frequently asked questions

What happens after I submit the inquiry form?

Once your inquiry is submitted, I will review your reference photos and follow up within 2–3 business days with availability, next steps, and a personalized timeline for your commission.

When will I get my portrait?

Most commissions are completed within approximately 4–6 weeks following sketch approval, depending on complexity and current commission availability.

After your inquiry form is submitted, I will provide a more personalized estimated timeline for your piece. Please note that original oil paintings require additional drying time (2-3 weeks) prior to shipment to ensure proper preservation and safe delivery.

What is the return policy?

Each portrait is an original custom commission created specifically for you and is therefore final sale. My intention is for every collector to receive a piece that feels deeply personal and timeless. If you have any concerns upon delivery, please reach out and I will do my best to ensure you have a wonderful experience.

Will my painting come framed?

Portraits arrive unframed unless framing is arranged separately in advance. Custom framing options may be available upon request for an additional fee.

When do I send the final 50% payment?

Once the painting is complete, I will send you final photos and a short video preview for approval. After approval, the remaining balance will be due prior to shipment.

Because oil paint requires time to fully cure, portraits typically dry for approximately 2–3 weeks before they are carefully packaged and shipped. This helps protect the artwork during transit and ensures it arrives safely.

I will keep you updated throughout the process with estimated timelines and shipping details.

Can multiple pets be included in one portrait?

Yes! Multiple pets may be included for an additional fee depending on composition, canvas size, and level of detail. Please include this in your inquiry form for a custom quote.

What type of reference photos work best?

Clear, well-lit photos with natural lighting work best. Multiple reference photos are encouraged so I can capture your pet’s personality, coloring, and details accurately.

Are revisions included?

Up to 2 minor revisions are included after completion. Larger composition changes or additional revisions may require an additional fee depending on the scope of changes requested.

Do you paint people as well?

At this time, commissions are focused primarily on pet portraits and animal subjects.

Do you ship internationally?

Currently, commissions are available within the United States. International shipping may be available upon request.

Will I receive updates throughout the process?

Yes. You will receive updates during key stages of the process, including the initial sketch and final approval stage before shipment.
